Music City Minute: Kane Brown, Lauren Alaina, CMT Awards, John Rich, Sugarland

You know how pretty much all of our favorite country artists have bars in downtown Nashville - Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line, Alan Jackson and Blake Shelton? Well now John Rich has one too! His new Redneck Riviera bar is getting ready to open in Nashville, John Rich is glad to able to join the growing list of country stars with downtown spots:

John Rich: "I think it's cool that all the country artists are doing that because Lower Broadway is where we all hung out anyway when we all came to town. So, to be able to go back and have honky tonks down there with kinda our fingerprints on it is gonna be a lot of fun."
This Saturday, he will hold a special kickoff event at Redneck Riviera Nashville to raise money for Folds of Honor, an organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships to spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service-members.

The "2018 CMT Music Awards" nominees were announced yesterday. Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, and Jason Aldean lead the pack with four nominations each.

Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton, Lauren Alaina, and Thomas Rhett are right behind with three nominations apiece. This is a fan-voted awards show so you have until midnight June 4th cast your vote. You can vote more than once.

The show airs June 6th, and Little Big Town are the hosts.

Speaking of the CMT Music Awards Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina have a decent chance of walking away with one next month for their "What Ifs" video.

But some of the best acting Kane ever did was during the ACM Awards when he and Lauren had to pretend to be romantic while performing "What Ifs".

Even though they've been friends since middle school the producers wanted them to "sell" the love song. They were coached to slowly walk towards each other until they ended up face-to-face.

Kane said, "That was the first thing they told us. They were like, 'you're over here, and you're over there… and THIS is how you end.' We were like, what? It was super awkward.

"Lauren was like, 'Might as well go ahead and grab his butt too.'"

Mother's Day is Sunday, so it's probably no coincidence that Sugarland has released the lyric video to their new song "Mother". It's one of the tracks from their album "Bigger", which is out June 8th.
