Music City Minute: Jason Aldean, Sam Hunt, The Backstreet Boys

Jason Aldean was on the "Ellen" show yesterday talking about his Entertainer of the Year win at the ACM Awards. Whether you liked or disliked the show, one thing everyone seems to agree on, from fans to country singers. And that is, they HAVE to start nominating females for Entertainer of the Year. Even Jason Aldean agrees.

Jason said backstage, "For whatever reason, there were no female [nominees] this year. I definitely think there's some worthy of being there, for sure.

"I think there's some that should be represented in there and honestly, down the road, if they happen to win one, I'll be the first one up congratulating them because I think it's probably a little overdue."

Speaking of the ACMs, Sam Hunt’s song “Body Like A Back Road” won Single Record of the Year but you may have noticed he wasn’t at the show. Sam said he was unable to attend the ACMs because he was celebrating the marriage of his longtime friend and tour manager, John Worthington. Naturally, everyone made it seem more dramatic than that.

If you’re a fan of The Backstreet Boys this might make you really excited. A.J. McLean is recording a country album. Yes, the Backstreet Boy that seems the least likely to be country. A.J. says, “I am coming in to disrupt country. I’m coming to shake things up.” Alright look. I love the Backstreet Boys and I love country music. But First of all A.J. calm down. He also went on to say, “after we did ‘God, Your Mama, And Me' with Florida Georgia Line… something just kind of clicked and I just got this overwhelming inspiration to just give it a go.”
