Music City Minute: Carrie Underwood, Gwen Stefani, Walmart Yodeling Boy

The Walmart yodeling kid was on yesterday's "Ellen"…and she surprised him with an invitation to perform at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday.

His name is Mason Ramsey, he's 11 years old, and he went viral by yodeling Hank Williams “Lonesick Blues” at his local Kentucky Walmart. So of course he performed it yesterday on The Ellen Show.

Ellen asked him he chose to sing in Walmart and he said because it’s the only store they’ve got. Then he went on to tell her he wanted to be a famous country singer, and she asked what he would do if that came true and his response was adorable. He said, “Well, I would save up all that money and I’m gonna go to college, and then I’m gonna move to Florida and I’m gonna work my way up in a motor home”

The best part of the show was when Ellen surprised him with an invitation to perform at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday. She also said Walmart is giving him a $15,000 college scholarship, and that his local Walmart has booked him to do a concert. Check out the full interview followed by his performance:

Speaking of Ellen Gwen Stefani was also on the show yesterday. Ellen wasted no time asking her about the tabloid rumors that say she and boyfriend Blake Shelton are getting married. Instead of answering Gwen asked Ellen what she thinks the couple should do, to which Ellen responded "I love being married. I think you should get married." Even though Gwen didn't directly answer the question, she did say she loves weddings, adding that she thinks about marrying Blake "all the time."

Gwen also revealed some big news on the show, announcing that she's heading to Las Vegas for a new residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. The "Gwen Stefani - Just a Girl" residency will kick off June 27.

Carrie Underwood released a new song today called “Cry Pretty” and it’s kind of what we’ve been waiting for – a powerful anthem that Carrie absolutely crushes. It digs deep into how it can be hard to mask heartache and sadness when all you want to do is break down and cry.

She’ll perform the song on Sunday’s ACM Awards and I think it definitely has the potential to be the performance of the night, she’s been recovering from that fall and everyone’s been missing her, so I don’t think she’s going to hold back.
