Music City Minute: American Idol Recap, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan

Last night American Idol went from the Top 5 down to the Top 3! Contestants performed a song from the catalog of Carrie Underwood and a Mother’s Day related song. Maddie Pope sang Carrie Underwood’s “I Told You So” and put her own twist on it.

Caleb Lee Hutchinson also made it in to the Top 3 with his version of Carrie Underwood’s “So Small”

And my favorite contestant since the beginning, our country girl Gabby Barrett sang “Last Name” and killed it in her performance as usual!

The Top 3 will compete again for America's Vote as the American Idol two-night finale begins LIVE next Sunday at 7pm on ABC!

Speaking of American Idol – Luke Bryan got a big surprise on the show last night for Mother’s Day. Luke’s Mom made an unannounced visit live on the show! It was super cute Luke’s Mom LeClaire sent what seemed to be a taped message to her son:

"Hi Luke," she started in the clip. "I miss you here on Mother's Day. (I) wish I could be with you. I'm having a good day down here at the beach. Wish you were here with me. I'm very proud of you. I'm getting excited about the night. I get to watch American Idol one more time. Love you. Call you in the morning. I have something to tell you about fishing."

The Nashville Predators were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs on Thursday, Carrie Underwood shared a video on Instagram of her son, Isaiah, helping his dad, Mike Fisher, shave off his playoff beard. In the video, the 3-year-old can be seen taking an electric trimmer to his dad's face as they sit in the bathroom and Carrie films the whole thing. The caption said, "Prediction: This won't end well..." Carrie then posted a picture of special moment on Instagram Stories, writing, "Saving $$$ on grooming now that he's out of a job."

The Preds' heartbreaking loss to the Winnipeg Jets in Game 7 of their series brought an end to the team's playoff run, and it also likely marked the end of Mike's NHL career, as he's expected to retire again after this season. After the game, Carrie took to Twitter to share a message of support for her husband and the team he's played with for so many years.

Carrie tweeted, "Welp, to me & our 3 year-old, @mikefisher1212 is the greatest hockey player alive & the @PredsNHL are now & forever the greatest hockey team in NHL history! Not the ending we wanted, but we're alive & well & I get my hubby back, so I say God is good!"
